Episode 375- 'Hanging w/MrWill'
December 06, 2013 04:56 PM PST
I was made aware of Drag Boat Racing Champion Marty Logan through Jeff Gibson who made today's impromptu interview possible while the Logan family was out deer hunting.
February 2nd 2014 will be Super Bowl Sunday in NJ. It will also mark a one year anniversary for the untimely death of Navy Seal Chris Kyle.
Mr. Kyle is the reason for today's interview with the 6 time racing champion. There's a tribute tour going on in his honor that Marty Logan wants you to be aware of.
If you like what you are hearing go to his website http://martylogan.com/racing.html or reach him directly at 214-213-3718. Tell him 'Mr. Will' sent you.

Black Friday meets the Blackhawks. The #1 NHL team and defending champs make their second in three visits to the AAC. This game featured some outstanding defense by goalies Kari Lehtonen and Corey Crawford.
A 1-1 score that went to 11 rounds of a shootout before the Hawks prevailed on a Brian Smith goal 2-1. All goals prior were made by Rich Peverley and Patrick Sharp.
Sad note to this game: Stephane Robidas would leave this game with a severe leg fracture. No time table set for him.
We hear from Jamie Benn, Kari Lehtonen, and Lindy Ruff.
Stars played tough in defeat before a sellout crowd.

Thanksgiving Eve in North Texas. A busy week at the American Airlines Center (what I call the AAC)continues with the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors.
Mavericks try to bounce back from a tough loss at home to the Nuggets two nights prior. This night a 17 point lead is almost completely lost to the team of Stephen Curry (29 points)and David Lee. Dirk Nowitzki with 22 points.
In the end Dallas held on for a 103-99 victory to improve to 8-1 at home and 10-6 overall.
Into the locker room we go thereafter. You can find video snippets on www.dallasbasketball.com courtesy of Mike Fisher.

Duck season began in earnest this night in Dallas Texas as the Dallas Stars also began a three game homestand with the Anaheim Ducks. Old timers might remember an epic playoff back in 2002-2003 with these two teams.
History was almost made on this night as Dallas scored 5 third period goals and three within 53 seconds, bringing the crowd to it's feet for the first time in a while for hockey. October 1995 Dallas scored three goals in 44 seconds...
Congratulations to Sergei Gonchar for playing in his 1,200th career game. That's at least a 16 year career in the NHL...
Comments from Stephane Robidas, Sergei Gonchar, Jamie Benn, Ryan Garbutt, Coach Lindy Ruff, and Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau.

Finishing up a back to back with the Denver Nuggets the Dallas Mavericks manage to hit a bump in the road with the running and gunning JJ Hickson, Ty Lawson, and Klay Thompson as the Nuggets rolled to a 110-96 victory at the AAC.
The Mavericks fall to 7-1 at home and 10-6 overall.
We hear from Rick Carlisle and the usual suspects.

24 hours after a triumphant 24-21 win over the New York Giants in New Jersey it was an upbeat jubilant day at Valley Ranch.
As Jason Garrett was quick to remark the focus is now on Oakland for Turkey Day before Selena Gomez and a national audience.
We hear from Coach Garrett, DeMarco Murray, Ernie Sims, and also Jason Witten.
The Cowboys are ready to get to 7-5!

Start of a very busy week in North Texas with Thanksgiving Week now here. This day spent up in Frisco to catch up with the Dallas Stars as they practiced and prepared for a three game homestand.
An additional surprise when head of media for the Texas Legends Britney Wynn was at Dr. Pepper Star Center. She was happy to hop onboard. Texas Legends basketball never gets boring.
We hear from Jamie Benn, Lindy Ruff, Brendan Dillon, and a little more.

For the third year in a row the holiday season kicked off with perhaps the biggest party of them all. The 2013 Margarita Ball! Hosted by the good people of the Sheraton Hotel.
Upwards of 12,000 of your closest friends dropping off a toy playing dressup, and having a good time for a great cause. Due to bad weather, a certain friend was iced in.
My thanks to Dan Pritchett, Michael Vernone, Nicole Hutchinson, Burnsie, Eric Dyson, to my coworkers, and to all who came by to say hi.
Bring on the holidays...and bring on 2014! Oh, that toy pile!

A cold cold day in North Texas less than 24 hours after hitting the mid 70's. Dallas Texas remembered for what happened fifty years ago in the West End. We honor the memory of a President, a place in time, and a Maverick game where Dallas played the lowly (1-12) Utah Jazz.
Why some teams decide to make things difficult after you have a 28 point lead, I'll never know.
Mavericks got the win, and are now 7-0 at home and 9-4 overall.
Note: Mayor Mike Rawlings with a very heartfelt speech about JFK at 12:30 pm this day!Episode 366-'Hanging w/Mr. Will'

A day for many anniversaries in history, and a revisit to the AAC for some Dallas Stars hockey with the New York Rangers. I was there 02-6-09 when a kid named Sean Valiquette got lit up for TEN goals in a 10-2 defeat of the Rangers.
Henrik Lundqvist was money on this night. 41 saves and a 3-2 Rangers win for the Original Pick Six Team. Two goals 37 seconds apart placed the Stars (10-8-2) on the losing side of the ledger.
Fresh off a great run of six straight wins on the road the Stars try to do the same at home for the fans...
Rick Nash got things going for New York.

National Audience, late start, and the return of the Rockets with Dwight Howard and James Harden.
History made as two Israeli born players play one another in Dallas.
Can you say McHales Navy or Mekel's Navy?
Comments from Kevin McHale, Rick Carlisle, and a whole slew of Dallas Mavericks.
Mavs improve to 6-0 with a 123-120 victory over Houston. Wild and crazy 4th quarter!

Three Game Homestand commenced this week for the Dallas Mavericks who continue their unbeaten ways this night with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Playing solid defense has been a bit of a bugaboo despite averaging 114 points a game at home. The Mavs would barely hold off the 76ers this night 97-94. Dallas now 5-0 at home with an ESPN late game on the 2oth at 8:30 pm.
Shane Larkin made his debut as a Maverick after recuperating from surgery...
Comments and commentary from the Maverick team and a final recap by yours truly.

Happy Veterans Day!
Dallas Mavericks were home to the Washington Wizards and a chance to start the season 4-0...which Team Carlisle successfully did.
Comments from Coach Wittman and Carlisle and a Mavericks ballplayer.
The tandem of Monta Ellis, Jose Calderon, and Dirk continue to gel nicely.

Fresh off a come from behind victory for the Dallas Cowboys over the Vikings on the 3rd this date was spent grabbing some soundbites from a few Silver and Blue notables.
Namely Bill Callahan, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Jason Hatcher, Sean Lee, and Brandon Carr...not necessarily in that order.

The Dallas Mavericks played host to a Kobe-less Laker team on this night and won handily 123-104 as 7 Mavericks were in double figures. Monta Ellis led all scorers with 30 points.
It was my intent to provide some color commentary. The flu bug disallowed it. What you'll hear is a pregame and a slew of postgame commentary from Rick Carlisle, Gal Mekel, Monta Ellis, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jae Crowder...and not in that order.
The win snapped a 5 game home losing streak (regular season) that went back to the 2010-2011 season...

Another Bucket List Item removed. On a windy blustery Sunday I would forego watching my beloved Vikings lose a game to the Cowboys for the purpose of watching my first NASCAR event at Texas Motor Speedway.
Great to run into the G-Bag nation of 105.3 The Fan's Gavin Dawson and Chris Arnold, Mike Bacsik and group. Great hospitality, and some great side shows. Also my friends The Texas 6!
I joked about Jimmie Johnson winning this race the same day the Cowboys won and no credit given to Jerry Jones for either. Damned if he didn't do it in a very caution free race.
*Note- Was fighting a painful sore throat. No talking by me, yes a rarity. I let the sounds of Texas Motor Speedway do that*
A blast! Loud!
